The Night Before the Wedding: Lorenne & Shannon’s Rehearsal Dinner at Terrili’s Dallas

filed in:

Everyone talks about the wedding day. But sometimes, the night before tells just as beautiful a story.

Lorenne and Shannon hosted their rehearsal dinner at Terrili’s on Greenville Avenue in Dallas and from the moment the evening began, it was clear this wasn’t just a formality. It was a celebration in its own right.

If you know Lorenne, you already know she doesn’t do anything halfway. Her rehearsal dinner look was the centerpiece of the entire night a dress that felt so completely, unapologetically her that it stopped conversations the moment she walked in. Bold, intentional, and perfectly chosen. It was the kind of outfit that makes you smile before you even realize you’re smiling.

I’ve photographed a lot of rehearsal dinners over my nine-plus years in Texas, and I can tell you not everyone brings that energy the night before their wedding. Lorenne does.

Here’s something I wish more couples would consider: Lorenne and Shannon made the choice to give their heartfelt speeches at the rehearsal dinner rather than on the wedding day itself.

And it was genius.

The rehearsal dinner is naturally more intimate fewer people, a quieter setting, the people who are closest to you gathered around one table. It’s the perfect environment for the words that really matter. The tears, the laughs, the “I can’t believe we’re actually doing this” moments they all hit differently when the room is small and the night is still young.

And then on the wedding day? They got to be fully present. No nerves about forgetting words, no pausing the party for a microphone. Just dancing, celebrating, and soaking in every single second.

It’s one of those ideas that sounds simple but completely changes the shape of your day.

Nestled on Greenville Avenue, Terrili’s has the kind of warm, intimate atmosphere that makes rehearsal dinners feel like what they should be — a gathering of your favorite people before the biggest day of your life. The energy of the room that night matched exactly what Lorenne and Shannon brought into it: warm, joyful, and full of love.

As a wedding film photographer, I always encourage my couples to consider documenting their rehearsal dinner too. The candid moments, the toasts, the way everyone looks the night before it rounds out the full story of your wedding weekend in a way that a single day simply can’t.

Lorenne and Shannon, the night before was just as beautiful as the day itself. Thank you for letting me be there for both.
